An expansion that strengthens ROCKWOOL's position on the German insulation market: the Danish manufacturer has officially commissioned a new production line at its Flechtingen plant in Saxony-Anhalt. This facility is part of the group's regional expansion strategy and reflects sustained demand for mineral wool in the German construction sector, particularly in the context of increased energy efficiency requirements imposed by the GEG.

The Flechtingen site, already operational for several years, thus benefits from a significant increase in production capacity. This new line enables ROCKWOOL to increase its manufacturing volume of rock wool insulation panels, primarily intended for roof, façade, and floor applications. The manufactured products meet DIN EN 13162 standards and cover a wide range of thermal performance, with lambda (λ) values between 0.035 and 0.040 W/(m·K), suitable for energy renovation requirements as well as new construction compliant with the Passivhaus standard.

The investment in this new production line, the amount of which has not been officially disclosed, brings positive impacts to the local economy. The site generates direct and indirect jobs in a traditional industrial region of Saxony-Anhalt, while consolidating ROCKWOOL's territorial presence in Germany. For planners and engineering firms, this increased capacity guarantees enhanced product availability and potential reduction in delivery times, which are critical during periods of high demand.

From an environmental perspective, ROCKWOOL highlights the composition of its panels, manufactured from basaltic rock, a non-combustible material classified A1 according to EN 13501-1 standard, with a recyclability rate exceeding 97%. The group is also committed to progressively reducing the carbon footprint of its production, although specific EPD data for this new line have not yet been published.

This expansion takes place in a context of increased competition on the German mineral insulation market, where ISOVER and other players are also expanding their capacities. The commissioning of this line is part of a broader dynamic, already observed during previous investments in Flechtingen, and confirms ROCKWOOL's strategy to maintain its market share in the face of rising alternative solutions such as bio-based insulation.
