Pilkington Endurance™ is a high-performance glass solution specially developed for the most demanding environments. The permanently applied anti-corrosion coating prevents the glass surface from becoming dull, milky, or spotted in humid or chemically stressed spaces. The product is aimed at planners and operators who need durable glazing in botanical facilities, aquariums, car wash facilities, ship structures, or industrial production sites.

How does the anti-corrosion coating work?

The coating is permanently bonded to the glass surface and protects against corrosion, which normally occurs due to high air humidity or chemical vapors. The smooth, sealed surface causes water to bead off and dirt and limescale deposits to adhere more weakly. Simple cleaning with standard commercial glass cleaners is sufficient to get the pane streak-free – without clouding or limescale marks. The coating is virtually invisible and does not impair optical clarity. Pilkington offers the glass optionally on normal clear glass or on extra-clear substrate, so that color reproduction and natural light utilization are optimal. Light transmittance remains stable throughout the entire service life.

Areas of application

Pilkington Endurance™ is used in a variety of industries and environments: Botanical and zoological facilities such as tropical greenhouses, zoo enclosures, and butterfly houses; aquariums and underwater viewing windows in public aquariums and research centers; car wash facilities with chemical-resistant viewing windows and partitions; shipbuilding and cruise ships with panoramic windows and observation decks; industrial and commercial areas such as food processing plants, clean rooms, and laboratories; as well as special applications such as balustrades and flood protection systems.

Practical benefits

The most important benefits are: Permanently clear view, as limescale and salts do not become permanently etched. Reduced cleaning effort due to water-beading effect and reduced limescale formation. Longer service life in environments where conventional glass must be replaced regularly. Proven tested resistance under extreme conditions.

Cleaning and maintenance

The smooth surface significantly simplifies maintenance. Standard glass cleaners and a soft cloth are sufficient for regular cleaning. Aggressive abrasive cleaners or sharp-edged tools should be avoided. The simple cleaning process saves personnel costs and cleaning product consumption – an advantage especially in facilities with high throughput or in areas with strict hygiene requirements.
