The French industrial gases group Air Liquide has expanded its order backlog to 5.5 billion euros. For the construction industry, this is relevant insofar as Air Liquide is among the key players in building up hydrogen infrastructure – for example for climate-neutral steel production and low-CO₂ cement manufacturing. Both sectors are under considerable decarbonization pressure from EU taxonomy and national climate targets. The high order intake suggests that energy-intensive industries are investing in low-emission process technology despite volatile economic conditions – an indirect signal for the availability of CO₂-reduced building materials in the coming years.
